Once again this is Joe on Adele's LJ. Yesterday was a little long to say the least. If you read the update that Tricia (LJ username: triciaseow) posted, you would have heard the latest. I have taken the liberty of infringing on Tricia's Copyright by reproducing it below: === Update on Auntyadele Adele went in for a biopsy at 3.30 p.m. today, and came out at 8 plus p.m. She is alert but will be in a High Dependency ward for a few days, due to the fact that the surgery was performed in an area close to the heart. The following are the possible permutations with regard to what the growth and possible treatment might be: 1. It is a benign tumour and radiotherapy will shrink it and that's the end of the matter. 2. It is actually lymphoma (lymph node cancer) and chemotherapy will be an option. 3. The worst scenario is that they might need to do a surgery (benign or otherwise) to get the growth out. However due to the fact that it is already wrapped around important blood vessels, it'll be a tricky and major surgery. So the issues now are: Is the growth benign? What type of treatment would be best? For that we need to wait for the results of the biopsy. Joe and Adele say they are very touched at the many smses and good wishes and consider themseves blessed to have this level of support and love from all of you. They are in a steady financial situation so what is most needed is the emotional support to get her through this. The only thing to add is this: Some of you may be worried by the seemingly lengthy procedure (as I was). To clarify Adele only actually got rolled into the Operating Theatre at 4:25. Then they began the task of getting the tissue sample for the biopsy. the first sample was substantial, but the pathologist was unable to make a preliminar call based on the sample. So the surgeon made the decision to get a second sample, via a second route. === Thank you all for the tremendous love and support. I'll printing your posts for Adele to read. She's truly blessed to have so many friends. The previous day.The next day.
